Life interrupts writing...

Darn! No NaNo updates, other than to say I haven't been writing for the past few days - but I hope to catch up this weekend!

Overnight the weather was ice with a little snow. I'm not too crazy about ice - but I always find something beautiful in it. Today was no different! Encased branch w/crabapples. They do make a pretty picture!

NanNoWriMo day 7

Whew! The words were coming out this morning! I love when I'm in the flow!

"I dug into my purse and handed him a twenty. “Watson?” I was positive the paper hadn’t made an ID of the victim. How did Mr. Kreinhagen know it was him?
“Yes, sirree little missy. Tom Watson. That old polecat got just what he deserved. Maybe that wife of his will settle up his account now he’s dead.” Mr. Kreinhagen tucked the bill into the register and counted out my change. “You want a bag?”"

NaNoWriMo Day 6

My NaNoWriMo badge for updating my word count every day. Didn't quite get where I wanted to be yesterday, but I was still over for the day. Today, however, is another day. I have plenty of words to go before my goal. But, I'm currently at 9.614 words! I can do it!

"“The face? You mean what was left of the face. What I saw was a bloody mess and I covered it up immediately. I suppose if I had an iron stomach and no feelings I might have studied the bloody pulp to see if I recognized it as a person. But that’s not me. I don’t even squash bugs or kill spiders, okay?” I crossed my arms over my chest, waiting for his reply."

NaNoWriMo Day 4

Whew! So far, so good... keeping up with the word count - feeling pretty positive. I happen to be a "Pantser" - meaning I don't write from an outline - I just go with whatever's in my head and fly by the seat of my pants (so to speak). That is definitely what is happening here. It's a rush! Here's a pic of my latest update - and a snippet follows...

“I’m okay.” I leaned on my broom. “Death, per se, doesn’t bother me. But, man, I’ve never seen murder — unless you count the bunnies and chipmunks that Patio does in on a fairly regular basis in the spring and summer. What I saw this morning is not an image I’m likely to forget any time soon.”

End of Day 2 - NaNoWriMo

Word count is at 3,996.

A snippet from my novel (by the way - Patio is a cat)...

"His shock of white hair reminded me a bit of Inspector Morse, well, John Thaw, the guy who played him in the series. And, although I loved Morse, I was not kidding myself, Detective Fox was, well, foxier.
Patio scratched at the screen to come outside. I reached behind me and held open the screen. After surveying things from the front and side of the porch, he hopped onto my lap.
“Gawd Almighty, Pats, I’m making up really bad puns about that detective. He is cute, though, isn’t he?” Patio head-butted my hand, for which he was fittingly rewarded with scratches behind the ears."

NaNoWriMo 2018

Thirteen years ago I wrote a NaNo novel - it became my first published book. This year, I'm at it again - new novel, new genre, everything new...  Wish me luck!
